Mobile Phones

The dominant cell phone technology in Argentina is GSM, operating on the 1900 band. However, local networks will also support CDMA 800/1900, TDMA-1900/800, iDEN-800 and AMPS-800, so if you bring your own phone, you should be able to get coverage. That said, beware of roaming charges, as these can be VERY steep!

If you would like to purchase a GSM chip to use your phone in Argentina, please make sure your phone is unlocked and eligible for such switches. Not all European/U.S. phones are unblocked for use on Argentina's system, so please check with your provider before departing.
